Why "Wholehearted" Health Coach?

When I began this journey of becoming a certified health coach, I knew that I wanted to go beyond diet and exercise. My own journey of creating a sustainable, healthy lifestyle included a shift in my belief system also. I'm not necessarily talking about a certain kind of faith, but a belief system regarding who I am and how I belong in this world.

Brené Brown defines spirituality as, “Spirituality is recognizing and celebrating that we are all inextricably connected to each other by a power greater than all of us, and that our connection to that power and to one another is grounded in love and compassion. Practicing spirituality brings a sense of perspective, meaning and purpose to our lives.”

When I began to meet myself with love and compassion I began to experience transformation from the inside out. I valued myself enough to take care of myself - to set boundaries - to say yes to making time for nourishing food and exercise. I see the health journey directly connected to our spiritual journey. This also created more of a lifestyle of choices rather than sticking to a diet for a few weeks.

When my clients come to work with me it is because I am speaking their language. There is something deeper that resonates with what they are longing for. Losing weight is usually at the top of their list, but it is a longing to do so without the self-hatred.

In the next few posts, I'll be sharing how cultivating things like authenticity, self-compassion, and gratitude have affected my journey into well-being. I hope you'll join me and receive inspiration to recognize and celebrate that we are inextricably connected... which will bring a sense of perspective and meaning to your life.
